Dell closes their manufacturing plant in Ireland. Quite a blow for the Irish economy but also a clear indication that international companies do not see Ireland as a cheap location to run manufacturing operations anymore.
We should unfortunately expect similar news to come from the rest of the major European countries in the next few months. Companies will be under pressure to reduce costs and apart from some countries in the Eastern Europe, manufacturing goods in Europe is simply too expensive compared to other parts of the world.
